Owners of original leather footballs to score £19.66 in World Cup offer
This article covers:

Leeds, UK 26th June 2018 - Vintage Cash Cow, the first online platform that allows you to sell your vintage items for cash, is offering £19.66 for original vintage leather footballs to celebrate England making it through to the last 16 of the World Cup.

Those who own an original stitched leather football, whatever the condition, should visit www.vintagecashcow.co.uk and download their free post labels to send along with any other vintage items and claim their winnings.

Vintage Cash Cow also offers cash for other vintage items, such as costume jewellery, old currency and gold, lying around the home or tucked away in attics. The average box value received by Vintage Cash Cow is £70, any boxes sent in that contain the original football and are valued at £50 or over will qualify for the World Cup offer.

The History of the leather footballs

The original animal bladder footballs were replaced by inflated leather balls – standardised by the Football Association in 1872.

This ball was 68 centimetres in circumference and made from eight brown, leather panels stitched together.

However, these balls were banned in 1970 due to a major flaw with using leather - on wet days, the leather soaked up liquid making heading the ball painful to kick and dangerous to head. These were replaced by the polyurethane coated balls that are used today.

Antony Charman, Head Valuer and Co-founder of Vintage Cash Cow commented; “Our old eight panel leather footballs are a piece of England’s sporting legacy that many have forgotten about, and very few think is worth anything! We’re holding this offer to celebrate England advancing to the next round of the World Cup and to remind people to have a look at the vintage items around their homes. The old coins, foreign currency and costume jewellery that we all have stashed in our attics or under our beds is actually worth quite a bit. Send a box into us and hopefully you’ll be able to fund a round or two cheering England to victory this year!”
